Dr. Soroush A. Ramin

Soroush Ramin, MD, completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Philosophy at UCLA in 1990. From 1990 to 1994, he attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine to pursue his medical education. Dr. Ramin then completed urological residency training at Loma Linda University Medical Center from 1994 to 2000. Subsequently, he obtained fellowship training in urological oncology at City of Hope National Medical Center in 2001.

Dr. Soroush Ramin spent an additional four years at City of Hope, pioneering minimally invasive surgical techniques for patients with urological cancers. He was part of the initial group of urologists in the U.S. who developed surgical treatments using laparoscopic robotic surgery for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers. Due to his commitment to teaching, Dr. Ramin has trained postgraduate fellows and numerous urological residents in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. While in private practice, Dr. Ramin holds a teaching position with Cedars Sinai Medical Center’s Urological Residency program. Teaching urology to our future doctors has been a career-long aspiration for Dr. Ramin.

Dr. Ramin also believes in promoting and advocating for improved standards of patient care. In this endeavor, Dr. Ramin has numerous leadership positions in hospitals. These positions include Chair of Robotics Surgical Committee at Providence St. Johns Health Center, Clinical Instructor of Urology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Chief of Urology at Adventist Memorial Medical Center, and a prior member of the Performance Improvement Committee at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Soroush Ramin is one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the U.S. He has performed over 3,000 robotic surgeries for various urological conditions. These conditions include, but are not limited to, prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, metastatic testicular cancer, adrenal mass, female pelvic prolapse, obstructive kidney disease, and markedly enlarged prostate. Dr. Ramin is devoted to providing excellent, personalized, and state-of-the-art care for patients with urological conditions. While his focus is urological oncology, Dr. Ramin continues to care for patients with other urological conditions, such as stone disease, enlarged prostate, incontinence, pelvic prolapse, low testosterone, and erectile dysfunction.

Stayed on as teaching faculty at City of Hope until 2005, performing robotic, laparoscopic, and open urological cancer operations, caring for patients with urological conditions, performing research, and teaching post-graduate fellowship trainees oncologic surgery.

From 2005 to the present, Dr. Ramin has been caring for patients with urological conditions in private practice.

Dr. Aydin Pooli is a highly esteemed urologist renowned for his commitment to providing exceptional urologic care to patients from diverse backgrounds. With a remarkable academic and professional journey, Dr. Pooli has established himself as a trusted surgeon in the field, delivering comprehensive treatment for urologic conditions and specializing in urologic oncology, female pelvic medicine, and reconstructive surgery. 

Dr. Pooli earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), marking the beginning of his pursuit of excellence in urology. Following his degree, he pursued a research fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, broadening his knowledge of advanced surgical techniques. Building on this foundation, Dr. Pooli underwent three years of rigorous general surgery residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. 

Driven by his passion for urologic care, Dr. Pooli continued his training with a urology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). During this program, he received extensive training in a diverse range of general urologic conditions, including open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries, as well as reconstructive urology and female pelvic medicine surgeries. It was during this residency that Dr. Pooli developed a deep interest in urologic cancers, which led him to pursue further specialization in urologic oncology. 

To refine his skills in urologic oncology, Dr. Pooli completed a prestigious two-year urologic oncology fellowship program certified by the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) at UCLA’s Institute of Urologic Oncology (IUO), David Geffen School of Medicine. His fellowship training at UCLA provided him with an in-depth understanding of complex urologic malignancies, with a particular focus on gene expression protocols for high-risk prostate and kidney cancers. Additionally, Dr. Pooli conducted multiple studies on outcomes in patients undergoing surgery for urologic cancers, further advancing the field. 

Currently, Dr. Pooli serves as a dedicated urologist at MLK Community Healthcare and MLK Outpatient Center, where he brings his wealth of knowledge and UCLA-level care to the community. His clinical practice emphasizes patient-centered management of urologic cancers, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, as well as the surgical management of benign urologic conditions, such as stone disease, prostate and urinary problems. Dr. Pooli also specializes in delivering targeted therapies and patient-tailored surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of care for his patients. 

Driven by his commitment to improving healthcare outcomes, Dr. Pooli is actively involved in clinical trials, providing patients from minority and underrepresented groups with access to the latest available treatments. His dedication to advancing the field of urology is further demonstrated through his championing of same-day procedures for benign urologic conditions, such as an enlarged prostate. Dr. Pooli is highly regarded for his expertise in photoselective vaporization of the prostate, transurethral resection of the prostate, water vapor therapy (Rezūm), and the UroLift procedure, earning him the designation as a center of excellence. 

Dr. Pooli’s expertise extends to managing overactive bladder and urinary incontinence, where he has significantly improved the lives of his patients through bladder Botox injections and urethral sling surgeries.

Dr. Howard C. Frydman is a urologist with over 50 years of experience practicing in the greater Los Angeles area. Dr. Frydman is affiliated with Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where he has built a long-standing career caring for patients with a broad range of urological conditions. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Armenian, allowing him to serve a diverse patient population across the Burbank and Glendale communities.
